After years of rumination, persuasion and “conspiracy” - as described by one of its former Board of Trustees presidents, U.S. District Judge Stephen Limbaugh, Jr. - the Society’s Center for Missouri Studies opened its new location on Saturday, the 198th anniversary of Missouri’s statehood.

Construction for the $35 million Elm Street location, which is 50,000 square feet larger than its previous headquarters in the ground floor of the University of Missouri’s Ellis Library, started two years ago by River City Construction of Ashland, Missouri.
