RONALD DEAN NICKELS

RONALD DEAN NICKELS

Ronald Dean Nickels, age 67, son of Walter and Jeanette (Alexander) Nickels, was born on Sept. 23, 1952. He departed this earth to be with his Heavenly Lord on Feb. 4, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Linda Nickels.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Chris Nickels; his son, Jason Nickels; a step-son, Aaron Davis and wife, Jessica; a grandson, Brantlay Davis; a brother, Randy Nickels and wife Jeanette; a nephew, Cody Nickels and wife Elisha; and a niece, Brandy Johnson and husband Nick; and numerous other relatives.

Ronnie grew up in the Raymondville area and attended school at Raymondville, and Houston. During high school he worked at the family business, Nickels Farm Pallet. He later became a co-owner with his brother Randy and continued until retiring in 2008. While working at the mill, he drove trucks, built machines, did mechanical and maintenance and had overseen operations.

In his younger years his hobbies included building trucks, flying planes, riding motorcycles and farming. He enjoyed race cars and would find any opportunity to attend a race. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved Earnhardt and Petty. In later years he enjoyed restoring trucks and attending numerous truck shows. Ronnie loved to travel, he and Chris would sometimes just decide to go somewhere at the spur of the moment. He attended many swap meets and auctions, always loving the chance to barter and trade, which he was good at. Ronnie loved life and found a lot of joy in life. He was always upbeat and enjoyed sitting around visiting with friends, reminiscing of old times and old trucking stories. Ronnie loved helping others, and he never met a stranger.

Ronnie accepted Christ at a young age. He never was afraid to talk to someone about their salvation, and openly took the opportunity when it was given to him. Ronnie always strived to provide for his family and to make sure they were happy and taken care of.

Ronnie became ill in 2013, but he never complained about his lot in life. We can all be at peace knowing Ronnie is no longer ill. He is happy, healthy and waiting for his family and friends to join him in his Heavenly home.
