James C. Lingo Jr., 90, of Licking, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 14, 1928, in Evening Shade, son of James Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Sudheimer Lingo.
He retired from the Fort Leonard Wood Fire Department and served in the Army. He spent his life farming and enjoyed being outdoors.
He enjoyed driving Ford pickups and turning hunting. He, his wife, Irene, and his sister, Mabel, took many trips and enjoyed touring the United States.
His favorite past-times included attending gospel music singings, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, gardening, raising beef cattle, baling hay, fishing and hunting.
He was saved at an early age and was baptized by his stepson, Terry, later in life. The last 34 years of his life he attended his country church, Palace Union Church, where he served any way he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nadine; and his wife, Pauline.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of the home; a sister, Mabel Steward of Evening Shade; a brother, Norman Lingo of Evening Shade; two daughters, Betty Lewis of Springfield and Margye Crocker of Jefferson City; a son, David Lingo of Oklahoma; three stepsons, Terry Robertson, Mark Robertson and Curt Robertson of Licking; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were Saturday, July 6, at Palace Union Church with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Palace Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
