Iona Faye Ice Jenkins, 79, of Garden City, Mo., was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Houston, Mo., to Harlin and Sylvia “Irene” Smith Ice.

She passed away Sept. 14, 2019.

She was united in marriage to Jerrold  “Jerry” Jenkins on April 14, 1962. They were married for 56 years until his passing in February 2018.

Mrs. Jenkins graduated from Houston High School in 1957 and later from Southwest Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She moved to Garden City in 1961 and taught home economics for a couple of years at Garden City High School.

She and her husband worked together on the farm, Winsome Losesome Acres, and in the garden. She enjoyed antiques and refinishing furniture with meticulous care and detail for many people. Her home was filled with love and many handcrafted items and pieces of furniture from the family.

Her family and friends were the most important to her and the many visits to her house meant so much.

Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; and one brother, Paul Ice. She is survived by sons, Brian, of Greenville, S.C., and Timothy of Greensboro, N.C.; and a daughter, Jana, of Creighton, Mo.; three grandsons; a great-grandson; and other family, neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Mo., with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Serenity Care Hospice.
