A Houston woman faces a pair of felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation of an incident involving her and a man on Sept. 6.
Susan Brown, 42, of 112 W. Spruce St., Apt. 1, in Houston, is charged with third-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon (both class E felonies).
According to a deputy’s report, the officer was dispatched to a Sand Shoals Road residence regarding a report of an assault. Upon arrival, the deputy observed Brown hiding in the woods under the Sand Shoals bridge.
After a short foot pursuit, Brown was apprehended and restrained. The officer then made contact with a man who was the reported victim, and he said he had been attacked by Brown.
The deputy reported observing a cut on the left side of the man’s face. The man told the officer he had been struck several times by Brown, and that she had picked up a hatchet and threatened to assault him.
The officer reported that the man had much of the incident recorded on video in his phone, and that the recording depicted much of what he had said about Brown’s actions.
Brown was arrested and taken to jail, where she is held without bond.
