The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A woman visiting an inmate at the Texas County Jail on Oct. 12 was found to have an active Dent County warrant for passing bad checks.

Geneva D. Burgdorf, 63, of 18405 Highway P at Licking, was arrested and booked into jail.

•An 87-year-old Elk Creek woman on Oct. 4 requested that deputies respond to her New Hope Drive residence because of a suicidal man there.

The woman told an investigating deputy that she and a 22-year-old man there were arguing over the man’s girlfriend, who the woman stated she didn’t approve of. The man stated he was mad because the family doesn’t like his girlfriend.

The woman declined to press charges, but said she wanted the girlfriend and her friends removed from her property. All people involved were advised of the 12-hour rule.

•A deputy was dispatched Oct. 7 regarding a report of property damage and property dispute at a Highway AA property at Bucyrus.

A 73-year old woman there told the officer that two men – ages 40 and 33 – were cutting down sassafras trees on her fence line without permission. The officer made contact with the men, and observed sassafras limbs stacked high in the bed of their pickup.

The woman declined to press charges and allowed the men to keep the clippings.

•A 70-year-old Licking man reported on Oct. 7 that a UTV he had borrowed from a 42-year-old man was missing from his Slab Springs Road property.

Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff's Department were called to several investigations in the last week.

The UTV was located a short time later wrecked in a wooded area. There are no suspects.

•James T. Hart, 59, of 303 Kelly St. in Raymondville, was arrested on Oct. 7 for having an active Texas County warrant for driving while intoxicated – habitual. A deputy made the arrest at Hart’s residence and took him to jail.
