A Texas County teenager faces multiple felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation.
Johnathan D. Cook, 17, of Success, is charged with first-degree statutory rape, stealing a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey reported that on Sept. 11, a deputy received a report of a stolen firearm at a residence on Highway BB in the Licking area. The firearm was located at a pawn shop in Houston and the deputy initiated an investigation.
On Sept. 25, the deputy conducted a search of a residence in Licking that led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and a substance that was believed to be methamphetamine. Lindsey said a 13-year-old girl at the residence also stated the suspect – later identified as Cook – had sexual intercourse with her. Cook was located after slipping away from the house and reportedly admitted to trading the firearm for meth and having sexual contact with the girl.
Cook was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail, and later charged by assistant county prosecutor Jason MacPherson. He is held on $150,000 bond.
