Members of the Houston school board set meal prices, accepted bids and made a handful of employment moves for the 2019-20 school year during a brief meeting Tuesday night.

Both breakfast and lunch prices – $1.45 and $2, respectively – will remain the same for students next year. Adult breakfast prices remained at $1.50 while lunch prices increased to $2.73.

Six bids for services were unanimously accepted by the board: Ferrell Gas, propane; Springfield Paper, paper; Ozark Termite & Pest Control, extermination; Top Gun Trucking, dairy; Bimbo Bakeries, bread; and Ward Photography, photography.

The board made five hires for next year: Brent Kell, assistant high school girls’ basketball coach; Leah Allen, high school speech and debate sponsor; Jason Pounds, high school student council co-sponsor; Jim Moore, middle school girls’ basketball coach; and Mason Miller, high school golf coach.

Also during the meeting, school board members:

•Approved the Fiscal Year 2020 budget as presented by Dr. Allen Moss, superintendent.

•Received HVAC bids from Moss to review. No action was taken. The matter will be revisited at the next meeting on July 9.

•Accepted a bid from Landmark Bank for five years spanning from July 2019 to June 2024.

•Heard and accepted evaluations related to discipline and the guidance program.
