The Houston Police Department handled several investigations in the last week.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Howard D. Crane, 57, of RR2 Box 122A in Summersville, was cited for failure to register a motor vehicle on May 20.

•Shawn K. Soto, 39, of 8419 Highway 17 at Raymondville, was cited for failure to register a motor vehicle on May 17.

•Amanda M. Scantlin, 39 of 20768 Highway B at Raymondville, was cited on May 19 for operating a vehicle with expired license plates.

•Andrew S. Bradford, 35, of 225 Fredrick St. in Houston, was issued citations for driving while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with no operable headlamps after a traffic stop at U.S. 63 and First Street at about 12:20 a.m. June 1.

An officer made the stop after observing a gold Dodge Durango traveling without its headlights on. After making contact with the driver – Bradford – the officer smelled alcohol and field sobriety tests were conducted.

Bradford was taken to the Texas County Jail for a 6-hour hold period.

•Daniel G. Stevens, 35, of 8990 Highway ZZ at Mountain Grove, was issued a citation for stealing under $750 after allegedly shoplifting at Walmart on May 31.

•Steven A. Barton, 33, of 4099 Highway 137 at Elk Creek, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia at about 11:15 p.m. May 21.

An officer on patrol observed Barton walking along U.S. 63 near Highway B, and after making contact with him noticed that he kept putting his hand in his right pants pocket even after being asked not to. Due to Barton having a prior drug arrest by the HPD, the officer asked for and received consent to search him.

The officer then found a syringe in the pocket, and Barton reportedly stated he had used it to inject methamphetamine.

After being arrested, Barton reportedly admitted to having a second syringe in his right sock. He was taken to the Texas County Jail where he was fingerprinted and released.

•Payton N. Mordis, 26, of 19965 Highway 32 East at Licking, was cited on May 30 for driving with an expired license.
