Houston Schools is transitioning to electronic online registration beginning with the upcoming 2019-20 school year.
The district said the effort is to reduce paper consumption and save families time. Parents will log into the school’s parent portal and complete information and forms. Among them are:
•Purchasing chromebook insurance for middle and high schoolers.
•Athletic and extra-curricular forms.
•Reviewing student handbooks.
The district said no paper copies will be sent home. The exception is the free/reduced lunch form.
Houston Schools said forms must be completed on a computer, not mobile device. Parents without access to a computer can complete forms at the district prior to the school year beginning.
Parent Portal will not be available until the end of July to complete the online process, the district said. The opening date will be announced via the Herald as well as the school district’s website and Facebook page.
