Oakwood Golf Club has sold to local owners and will continue to run as a golf course.

Owner Bud Evans said the property has been purchased by a pair of area property investors. They will lease the course to a local family who has said they will manage the golf operations.

The fate of the course has been in limbo for nearly a year after Evans announced in December 2016 he would be selling the nine-hold course off Highway B. He proposed to sell it to the City of Houston for $325,000.

The city held multiple discussions and a public forum about purchasing the course, which moved to its location in 1985. In October, the city council unanimously voted not to purchase it.

As the end of the year approached, Evans reached an agreement with the local property investors. He announced the move Monday.

More details to come.
