The Air Evac Lifeteam is inviting the community to join them for an open house on Tuesday to celebrate the office’s second anniversary.
A drop-in reception is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the office at 304 Spruce St., Suite 3, in the former Lee Building. Light refreshments will be available.
“We hope everyone will come out to see the facility and visit with our employees,” said Director of Patient Accounts Diana Acklin. “Houston and the surrounding area have a population that has allowed Air Evac Lifeteam’s continued expansion and growth with the growth of the workforce.”
“Two years ago, the City of Houston and the Houston Development Co. worked closely with us to help us secure the building and prepare it. It was a pleasure to work with them, and the office is thriving in Houston.
“We needed to expand our potential employee base and Houston was a local community willing to work with us and that had the capacity for our business. We were excited to bring jobs back to the Houston area and make the commute for some employees a more manageable one. In the current economic situation it is a win-win for everyone.”
Currently, there are 45 employees in the office.
“In the past year, we have been working to expand that space with May 1 being the date we expect to be ready for an additional 50 employees in the future for our Medicare/Medicaid billing groups,” Acklin said. “This growth is expected to occur as the company experiences overall growth. We don’t anticipate being at full capacity for some time. But this gives us the opportunity for expansion in the department.”
Air Evac Lifeteam Patient Accounts department is first and foremost an advocate for the patient and family through the costly and many times confusing billing and payment process after an emergency medical flight. The office in Houston is processing the Medicare and Medicaid billing claims for patients.
“We work to treat patients personally and individually and assist them during their recovery by working with them through their bills as completely and accurately as we can,” Acklin said. “If the patients allow it, we even enjoy learning about them and their situations personally to be able to give them the respect they deserve. Many employees form a bond with them and follow their recovery progress well after the billing process is complete.
“We are proud of the customer service we provide to patients and their families. They treat and respect them in the way they want someone to respect them or their mother or father. It’s basic, but it’s our golden rule.”
In May 2009, Air Evac Lifeteam expanded its patient accounts office to Houston, adding more jobs to the company and providing a more convenient location for some of the workforce.
Air Evac Lifeteam is continuing to grow with the addition of 14 bases since the patient accounts office in Houston opened. Air Evac Lifeteam is a membership-supported air ambulance company that provides emergency care and rapid medical transport to rural communities throughout the central U.S.
