A Raymondville man is charged with swiping a motor vehicle off a Houston parking lot and second one at an eastern Texas County residence.

Steven W. Callender, 27, of 8590 Highway 137, is charged with first-degree tampering of a motor vehicle, according to court documents.

The truck was later found abandoned on McColgin Road at Raymondville and released to its owner, Ralph Cockrum of Houston.

Texas County investigated a second theft of a vehicle in the Raymondville area on Aug. 12. Callender is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and domestic assault in that case, records show.

In other matters, police:

-Charged Russell L. Sadler, 40, of Stoutland, with following too closely following a mishap Aug. 16 at Highway B and U.S. 63. Police said Sadler, operating a Suzuki, struck a car in the rear driven by Gilda R. Reed, 18, of 17409 Oakwood Road. Police said the Reed vehicle was attempting to turn south onto U.S. 63 from Highway B, stopped when seeing an oncoming vehicle and was struck from behind.

-Cited Chad W. Hutsell, 18, of 1294 John St., with following too closely at U.S. 63 and South Industrial Drive. Hutsell was the driver of a vehicle that struck a SUV in the rear operated by Cynthia L. Postlewait, 38, of Bucyrus.

-Charged Eddie F. Day, 18, of 8164 Morton Road, Lot #7, with operating a motor vehicle with no valid operator's license on Aug. 16.

-Investigated an Aug. 10 accident that police said occurred when a SUV driven by David A. Sudduth, 20, of Millstone Road, attempted to miss a dog and struck a tree on Millstone Road.

-Arrested Troy N. Kidwell, 26, of 5583 Samoa Road, on a City of Houston warrant for driving while suspended. He posted $1,000 bond on Aug. 11.

-Cited Dawn M. Sikes, 30, of 205 W. Steffens, on Aug. 11 with failing to register a motor vehicle with the Missouri Department of Revenue - no plates.

-Arrested Crystal "James" Kidwell, 20, of 5583 Samoa Road, on a City of Houston warrant charging him with allowing an animal to run at-large. He posted bond on Aug. 11.
